"God bless them, for their spontaneity. It's independent ... it's young, it's spontaneous, and it's focused. And it's going to be effective." – Nancy Pelosi. I’m young, spontaneous, independent, and focused, how come I don’t feel the same way as the Occupy Protestors? I’m a college student going to school to major in political science and journalism. I went down to the local Occupy Protest to get the real scoop from local people. I did not want to officially stereotype before checking the Occupy movement out first hand. Not only was I surprised, I was disgusted. I interviewed people with various signs, most of them referring to the “evil” 1 percent. I asked questions like, “What exactly are you protesting? What is the government’s responsibility? And, what do you hope to accomplish through this protest?” If the Occupy movement is such a focused protest, why did I get a million different answers? One young girl said, “The next generation’s futures are in trouble; we’re not going to be able to get an education because the companies are taking all of our money and opportunity to be better people and to be successful.” Another man said that he was protesting, “Rich people in general” and “the idea that you’d want to be rich.” Why are these people not protesting Washington? Why is it the “greedy” corporations? (Are all the average joe shareholders invested in these corporations evil and greedy too?) One woman claimed that it was all Bush’s fault for bailing out the banks. I would agree, no banks should have been bailed out, but everyone seems to forget that it was the Democratic Congress who pushed such a ridiculous move. Apparently, it is okay for a democratic President to bail out companies like a mindless robot. If it weren’t, why wouldn’t the occupiers protest Obama and his administration as well? Liberals live by different standards, that’s why. The protestors declare that the rich do not pay their “fair share”, but I have to wonder. Are they even aware that the “terrible” 1 percent pays 40 percent of our total federal income taxes? The top 10 percent pay 75 percent of all federal income tax. The bottom 49 percent pay (drum roll please) NOTHING. Zip. Zilch. Nada. But I’m not about to get technical. My goal was to compare the hip, young and fresh Occupy Protestors to the Tea Party. The differences were simply incredible. Between the senseless signs, creepy commie-like chants, and bad attitudes, I could not bear to linger at the occupy protest any longer. All of the Tea Parties I have attended make everyone feel welcome, and one can tell that they genuinely love America and want to turn it around and conserve it. Liberals just love angry mobs. They have unfocused rage and confidently utter the first foolish thought that comes to their mind. The protestors were heavy on emotion and light on thought. The only vibes I derived from this were anger and jealousy. “The weak-minded just go with the crowd, ridicule the designated scapegoats, and then pass out awards to one another for their courage.” – Ann Coulter
